The Sycommor group works on alignment of semi-conducting and conducting polymers by high temperature rubbing since more than 15 years. It was the occasion to make a first review on achievements and state-of-the-art of the research and applications in plastic electronics. The review article published in Macromolecules gives first an overview of alternative alignment methods with pros/cons and focuses on the development of high-T rubbing at ICS. Recent applications of this method to the fabrication of conducting polymers for thermoelectricity or for polarized organic photovoltaics are illustrated.
